The Lord Lister Hotel Offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with good service at a reasonable price. It is centrally located on the edge of Hitchin town centre, with a private car park at the rear of the Hotel. The Hotel was originally a woolcomber's House built in the late 18th Century, and was owned by Thomas Williams. It later became a Quaker school known as the Isaac Brown Academy and many of our eminent 19th century scientists were educated there. The most famous of these was Joseph Lister who pioneered germ free operations and became known as the 'father of antiseptics.' Since the Raviele family took over the ownership of this 18th Century Listed building six and a half years ago. They have maintained the character of the existing building, while at the same time upgrading many of the facilities to ensure further guest comfort. We provide en-suite rooms with all facilities, such as colour television, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and direct-dial telephones. For the more special occasion there is a four poster bedroom and flowers or wine may be provided on request. There is a cosy bar and residents TV lounge. The Lord Lister is within convenient reach of London's West End and the City, also allowing easy access to Luton Airport and Central England.
