A history lover’s dream, the Hotel du Petit Moulin was the site of the oldest bakery in Paris; even the façade dates from 1900. A complete renovation preserved much of the historic charm, while also transforming the building into a hip boutique hotel that appeals to cosmopolitan travelers as well. A prime example of this unique combination is the reception area, whose desk is actually the old bakery counter, while all around it riotous colours war with each other to capture guests’ attention.

Breakfast is the only meal available at the hotel, however, which is actually a good thing, as it forces guests to explore the wonderful culinary adventures that Le Marais has to offer. Hotel Features
The ancient bakery that gave rise to the Hotel du Petit Moulin was a favourite of Victor Hugo, who lived in the neighbourhood. Another neighbour, however, was instrumental in remaking the building. Hotel owner Nadia Murano met famous French designer Christian Lacroix by accident. A local, he was interested in how the historic building would be refurnished. Ultimately, he signed on to do the work himself.
