The Monumental Lido is located near the center of town. It's a good 15 minute down hill walk to the center of Funchal and the Port. It's a lot easier to catch the bus back, which stops right outside the hotel.
Try and book a sea view room at the front of the hotel. This is definitely worth it. This hotel is very clean with maid service daily, pool area is excellent, towels and sun bed provided. The pool bar is highly recommended - the food is lovely. The sunbeds are very comfortable and the poolside is very spacious.
The apartments are extemely big and fully equipped. All have air conditioning, however, the hotel rooms have fans. All rooms have fitted hair dryers, shower gel and shampoo.
Internet access is available at the reception. The gym is first class, there is also table tennis, darts and pool. Also available is regular live entertainment shows in the hotel, such as folk night, hot dancers, magic shows, etc.
