Jaipur Restaurants
Established as the first planned city in India, Jaipur is located in the state of Rajasthan, with the surroundings resembling desert land. The traditional cuisine of the Rajasthan state generally has a lot of flavouring and spices, because the food needed to be preserved for sometime during the ancient days. Even though modern technology has reduced the need for food preservation through ancient methods, the rice and curry served in most Jaipur restaurants still keep the flavours and spices. Unlike other Indian states and cities, Jaipur shuns the regular meal consisting of rice and vegetables. Instead, Jaipur specialises in rice and curry with a lot of lentils and corn.
Specialties served in Jaipur restaurants include the dal baati churma, gate ki subzi and ker sangria, which are dumplings made out of dhal, gram flour and green beans, respectively. The Thaali, a traditional metal platter with separate sections for a large selection of curries and condiments, is the best way to experience a true meal in Jaipur.
In addition to the typical South Indian meals served in Jaipur, the city also has a selection of dining venues serving multinational cuisine. Chinese, Continental, and cuisines from the Asia-Pacific are commonly served in these Jaipur restaurants.
