Copenhagen Transportation

Copenhagen can be accessed by a number of different transport methods. As well as the major international airport, Copenhagen is well served by bus and train links from the rest of Denmark and beyond. Being on an island, water transportation is also used to connect Copenhagen with other Danish islands, Sweden and beyond.

Arriving by Air

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) airport is located five miles (eight kilometres) southeast of Copenhagen city center. A busy leisure and business destination, the three terminal Copenhagen Airport serves Denmark's capital with international flights.

Arriving by Car

Copenhagen is served by the E47, a major road that virtually runs right up the eastern side of Zealand. The major roads in Denmark are in excellent condition but drivers are advised to leave their cars on the outskirts of Copenhagen and take public transport into the city.

Getting Around Copenhagen

As most of the downtown attractions in Copenhagen are close together, the public transport system is excellent, the road system is complex and parking difficult, driving is not the visitor' s best option in the center of Copenhagen. Many of the streets are pedestrionised and intended for walkers and cyclists.
