Small and charming, the city of Strasbourg is built at a crossroads of the European continent, near the west bank of the river Rhine. Dogged by warfare during centuries of Franco German border disputes, Strasbourg is now very definitely part of France. Long capital of the region of Alsace, it is now one of the minor capitals of Europe, home to various governmental and judicial institutions.
