To enter Oman, you will need a valid passport and visa. The type of visa you will need depends on your travel status. Tourist visas are valid for stays up to three weeks from the date of entry into Oman. You may extend it once for one week. You can purchase a tourist visa at Seeb International Airport if you are from the UK, the US, Australia, or Canada, and this will allow for multiple entries into the country, though each stay must be less than three weeks. Guests from China, Russia, and Ukraine may get a visa upon arrival in Oman only if they are travelling with a local tourism company, hotel, or sponsor family. Those from India, Jordan, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, and Tunisia can only enter Oman if they are travelling on a package deal with booked accommodation in Oman.
Visitors may also obtain a short stay visa, which is valid for two weeks. To do so, you must have a valid passport from one of the countries listed on the Royal Oman Police website. Short stay visas are only issued at Seeb International Airport, and an extension because of emergency can be bought.
You may travel to Oman on a Family Joining/Family Residence Visa. These are form wives and children of a sponsored resident foreigner or for foreign wives of Omani nationals. This is a multi-entry visa. Employment Visas are for those who have a local sponsor, and are valid for entry six months from the date of issue. A maximum stay of two years is permitted. This is renewable for similar periods if the holder is still employed. Investor’s Residency Visas are for foreign nationals who wish to invest in Oman. This is valid for entry within six months of approval, and those on the Investor’s Residency Visa may stay for two years, and may opt to renew. This is dependent upon approval from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
If you are travelling through Oman and will be in the country for no more than 72 hours, you may need a Transit Visa. This allows one entry into the Sultanate for those who are in transit. For more information and to apply for your visa, you may visit the Royal Oman Police (ROP) website. If you have questions or need assistance, you may email them through the “Contact Us” link.
