Macau Transportation
Macau has a new airport which opened in 1996. However very few international airlines have any routes which connect here and the most common point of entry is from Hong Kong. Most ferries leave from the well named Macau Ferry Pier next to the Shun Tak Centre at 200 Connaught Road, Hong Kong. There is a choice of jetfoils, turbocats and high-speed ferries which vary in speed from a 55 minute trip for the jetfoil to a 95 minute trip on the ferry. The boats operate from 07:00 to 19:30. There are also helicopter services which operate from Hong Kong and Macau airports which take 20 minutes.
Arriving by Air
Most visitors arriving in Macau will do so via Hong Kong International Airport.
Getting Around Macau
Getting around the city is relatively simple as the public buses run from 6:45 am to midnight. All the city's cream and black taxis are metered, but they charge a surcharge for each piece of luggage put in the boot. The radio-called taxis are yellow, but many of the drivers do not speak English so it is handy to carry a bilingual map. Hire cars are easily available, but do keep in mind that parking is difficult to find.
