Marrakech is a treat for bargain enthusiasts. Marrakech attracts residents and tourists alike to its famous traditional markets and shopping centres. Many little shops are stocked with used books, unusual crafts, ethnic fare, prized soft leather goods, copperware, silver, silks, cotton garments, wool rugs, carpets and blankets. It is not uncommon to get good buys at around a third of the asking price. One of the more famous markets its situated on and around Djemaa el Fna square.
If you would prefer to shop for crafts without the presence of crowds or over-eager salesmen, the Ensemble Artisanal (Avenue Mohammed V) is a government run crafts and trade center which not only has stalls selling various craftworks such as carpets, fabrics, and babouches, but also has some of the crafters at work.
