Visa Information for India

All nationalities require a visa in order to visit India for any purpose (tourism or business). The only countries which are exempt from this are except Nepal and Bhutan.

You can be apply for a India Tourism Visa for via your country's Indian Embassy. Tourism visas are valid from six months to one year, with single or multiple entries. The maximum length of stay allowed is six months, regardless of your visa length. The visa start date will be the date of issue.

Visa-On-Arrival

The Tourism Visa-on-Arrival service is a new introduction, and is only offered to a select number of countries: Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Singapore. Nationals from these countries are permitted to apply for their visa upon entry to India, provided they are visiting for tourism only and have proof of return travel and travel funds. The visa is valid for thirty days.

Please Note: This visa scheme is being run for a period of one year, so check with your Indian Embassy before travelling if it this service still valid for your travel dates.

Indian Visas: Further Information

There should be a gap of at least two months between each trip to India. This requirement is only imposed on those travelling for tourism purposes.
