Playa de las Canteras
Las Palmas’ most popular beach. It is 3km long, drenched in golden sand, and has a range of watersports on offer.

Parque Doramas
A beautiful park located in the centre of the city, the lush and tropical Parque Doramas has several fountains, grand statues and a public swimming pool.

Vegueta
Vegueta is the oldest part of Las Palmas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many of the city’s best museums and oldest-surviving buildings can be found here, as well as the splendid Cathederal Santa Ana.

Named after Christopher Colombus (his surname is spelt Colón is Spanish) this museum is housed in a beautiful 18th century house. It has 13 permanent exhibition rooms displaying maps instruments, aretefacts and replicas from the pre-Columbian era.

Cathederal Santa Ana

The Cathederal Santa Ana was the first church built in the Canary Islands, with construction started circa 1500. Construction took over four decades, and this is reflected in the church’s architecture which includes elements of three architectural styles; Gothic, Renaissane, and Neoclassical.

Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno (CAAM)

Founded in 1989, the CAAM is one of Las Palmas’ premier galleries and exhibits a range of artworks from contemporary Canarian, Spanish and international artists.

Museo Néstor
Parque Doramas, Pueblo Canario, Las Palmas
Free admission, open Tuesday to Friday 10am until 8pm. Closed for siesta from 1pm until 4pm

The Museo Néstor was founded so as to showcase the work of local artist Nestor Martin Fernandez de la Torrem, but has grown to include other local artefacts in its collection.
