Las Palmas Dining – Local Cuisines and Customs

Most restaurants in Las Palmas serve an array of seafood dishes, including curries, grilled and fried fish and seafood, as well as the traditional Spanish paella. If you are not a seafood fan though you are in luck, as due to the large number of tourists and expats on the island, you will also easily be able to locate other dishes such as pizza, Japanese, Indian-style curry and steakhouses.

There are also several excellent tapas bars where you can while away the hours sampling smaller dishes of traditional Spanish and Canarian cuisine, drinking local wines, and people-watching. It is worth noting though that dinner is not usually eaten until well after the sun has set, and so some restaurants located further away from the tourist areas may only open circa 8pm or later.
