Liverpool John Lennon Airport is located only seven miles from the city centre, south of the city along the canal. It is one of the busiest airports in Northwest England, matched only by Manchester airport.

Airlines
Like Manchester airport, the Liverpool John Lennon Airport is a hub for low-cost carriers flying from Liverpool to holiday destinations in Europe such as Greece, Turkey and Spain. The airport also serves capital cities such as Belfast, Krakow, Paris, Brussels and Berlin. Airlines which operate from the airport include KLM, EasyJet, RyanAir and FlyBe.

Leisure Facilities
The airport has a book store, grocery store and foreign exchange counter before the security check, as well as some cafes and take-away counters. After the security check there is a variety of high street stores, including fashion, books and cosmetics, both before and after the security check. There are also many several places to eat, from coffee counters and take away stands to a pub and pizza restaurant.

Business Facilities
The airport has an executive lounge called the Halewood International Executive Lounge. It has complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, newspapers and magazines and business facilities (WiFi, telephone and fax). The lounge is available for use for the fee of about £19 and should be pre-booked prior to departure via the airport’s website.

The entire airport is equipped with WiFi access however access is on a pre-paid basis via local network providers. Access can be bought when you attempt to go online with your mobile device or laptop.

The airport has also instated several Business Traveller services to help make business trips as hassle free as possible. These include a Fast Track ticket for the security check-in, chauffer services, and premium cark parking located close to the check-in area.

Last, but not least, the airport has its own dedicated conference venue, the Cavern Suite, which can accommodate up to 80 delegates. The airport is able to provide refreshments and catering, as well as full audio visual equipment.

Disabled Facilities
Liverpool John Lennon Airport has a Passenger Assistance facility where arriving and departing passengers can be assisted from the plane through the security checks and vice versa. This should be pre-booked or else requested immediately on arrival. The airport also has accessible parking bays located in the following car parks: Long Stay 1, Short Stay and Premium.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) – Getting Into Town

The easiest way to reach the airport from the city centre is by bus or taxi, depending on how many are traveling and how much you would prefer to pay. If you are traveling from other towns in the North East region, the train is probably the best option. You would need to arrive at Liverpool South Parkway station, which is located two miles from the airport, and catch the connecting bus service (line 501) from the train station to the airport.

A taxi journey costs about £15 and will take circa 20 minutes from the city to the airport. The charge is the same no matter whether there is one or four passengers, so can be affordable if you are travelling in a group. There are several public bus services which run from the city centre to the airport. Lines 500, 86A and 80A all run to the airport from the city.
