The best time to visit Liverpool is during the Spring or Summer, from April until September. Although the weather is usually a lot drier and warmer, be prepared for the occasional cold and rain.

Language
English is the main language spoken in Liverpool however, like any large cosmopolitan city you may also encounter other languages such as Urdu, Welsh, Spanish or Arabic. You will only be expected to converse in English though. The accent in Liverpool can be quite strong though, and markedly different to the accent in London.

Tipping Advice
Tipping in restaurants is usually included in your final bill as a service charge. The amount varies around 12.5% and should be clearly stated on your menu. Tipping for most other services is not customary, apart from taxi and cab drivers who appreciate a few pounds or else a rounded up fare.

Liverpool, like most major cities within the UK, does not have any specific safety warnings but rather ones which should be heeded whenever travelling in a large city

Certain areas should be avoided after dark, and caution should be taken when walking around the city with any valuables (camera, wallet, passport etc). It is suggested to stay within the major roads and high streets, especially if you are travelling on food or during the weekend nights, when drunk-related incidents may be an issue.

On football match days it is advised to stay clear of the stadium area if you are not attending the game, and to bear in mind that most UK football supporters take their teams very seriously and don’t take banter or comments lightly.
