Public Transport in Liverpool
Public transport in Liverpool is organised and run by a company called MerseyTravel and includes train, bus and night bus services.
The Mersey train services runs from Chester in the South of Liverpool and to Southport in the North. It is a useful way to travel around the greater Liverpool area, however the best way to travel around the city itself is by bus or on foot. Bus tickets cost from £3 for a PlusBus ticket, which allows unlimited bus journeys for a day.
Alternatively, a Saveaway ticket allows unlimited travel on ferries, buses and trains within the Merseyside area from £3.40 per ticket. During the week, this ticket is only valid for journeys made after 9.30am.
Driving Around Liverpool
Driving around Liverpool’s inner city area can be frustrated by congestion and parking woes, so it is advisable to park where possible and travel on foot if you are to be doing some exploring or shopping. There are three large parks at the Liverpool ONE centre, which is located in the city centre, making it easy to leave your car there while you explore the city.
